Personal Life & Political Career

Salman Khurshid Alam Khan (born January 1, 1953) is an Indian politician, appointed senior counsel, eminent author and law professor. He was the cabinet minister of the Department of External Affairs. It belongs to the Indian National Congress. He is a lawyer and writer [1] elected in the constituency of Farrukhabad Lok Sabha in the 2009 general election. He belongs to the Farrukhabad region. Before that, he was elected to the 10th Lok Sabha (1991-1996) of the Farrukhabad Lok Sabha constituency. He became Deputy Minister of Commerce in June 1991 and later became Minister of State for External Affairs of the Union (January 1993-June 1996). (PMO) under the tutelage of Indira Gandhi.

Political career

He began his career as a special duty officer in the Prime Minister's Office in the early 1980s when Indian Prime Minister Gandhi took office. Later, he became Deputy Minister of Commerce of the Indian Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Indian Government from 1991 to 1996.. In the 2009 general election, he was again elected to Farrukhabad as a candidate for the Indian National Congress with 1,69, 351 votes. He became the Minister of Independent Affairs for Institutional Affairs and Minority Affairs in the Indian Government. He took office as Minister on May 29, 2009. In the cabinet reshuffle of July 12, 2011, he was appointed Minister of Cabinet for Law, Justice and Business in the Indian Government.

He came fourth and lost his deposit in the 2014 elections in Lok Sabha, coming from Farrukhabad.

He has been president of the Uttar Pradesh Pradesh Congress Committee twice. He has also been President of the Delhi Public School Society and Dr. Zakir Hussain.

Political Views

Salman Khurshid appeared for Students Indian Islamic Movement, a banned group in India and is accused by the Indian authorities of terrorist activities, as a defender of the defense, appealing the 2002 ban; in June 2006, the Supreme Court of India on appeal, noting that "the appeal against the prohibition must be submitted to the court established for this purpose". Asked about his appearance, Khurshid said:

I refuse a client only when I am taking the case of the ethics of the profession. A lawyer must appear for an accused. It is my constitutional duty. A party and the government can not prejudge an organization either.
