- The apparent rise of regional political parties is a recurring theme on the Indian political scene. Over the past two decades, India has witnessed a steep increase in the number of parties contesting parliamentary elections and a corresponding decline in the average margin of victory. Both of these data points are evidence of new power centers emerging from within the states.
Overall, it seems that Guntur has been a closely contested constituency between the Telugu Desam Party and the YSRC Party in recent years.
